October was a busy month at Bell Tower Retirement. We celebrated Fire Prevention Month with an appreciation dinner for our volunteer firefighters that serve East Dubuque and Bell Tower so diligently. Fire Chief Joe Heim and Mayor Kirk VanOstrand did a walk through of Bell Tower and we had a team that utilized Bell Tower for Mutual Aid training where they worked on ladder placement.
The Bell Tower van took a ride in the East Dubuque Homecoming Parade, we had fun throwing candy and waving to all the Warriors and Warrior supporters.
We decorated pumpkins, ate chili and enjoyed great company at our annual fall event on October 24th. Bell Tower sponsored a spot at St. Mary’s School Trunk or Treat night. We also welcomed over 100 Trick or Treaters into Bell Tower on October 30th. We are very grateful for the parents that bring their kids to our annual trick or treat night. Our residents and staff love seeing all the costumes and welcoming our community into Bell Tower.
The residents did some traveling of their own in October. They had a trip to Cziper’s Apple Orchard, the bus drove around Dubuque to see all the murals and walked the River Walk on a nice day. They also headed up to Lancaster for a picnic to see the scarecrows then to Vesperman’s Farm. Bell Tower entered two pumpkins in the First Community Bank of Galena Pumpkin Challenge so the bus headed to Galena to vote for their favorite pumpkins. We also had a group of residents attend Aging for The Future that was held at The Diamond Jo, they headed to the movie theater to see The Adam’s Family and they toured the Dubuque Humane Society. As the weather starts to turn colder, we are getting ready to settle in for the winter where it’s safe and warm.
Please join us for the Free 55+ Community Meal & Native American Adventure that will take place on Wednesday, November 13th. Our Dementia Support Group will be held on Thursday, November 14th. We love to welcome the community into Bell Tower.
Happy Veterans Day to all of our Veterans and thank you for your service. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. ~Bell Tower
